South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has accepted Donald Trump’s offer to be his ambassador to the United Nations, a source familiar with the president-elect’s transition process confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday.
Haley, who was first elected governor in 2010, had a rocky first term but was easily reelected in 2014. The 44-year-old daughter of Indian immigrants did not support Trump in the Republican primary and had been critical of him as recently as last week.
