Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., may be laying the foundation for a presidential run in 2020. The second-term governor hired two out-of-state fundraisers, which suggests he is building his network, according to the New York Post.
Cuomo picked up two Florida fundraisers, including Jon Adrabi, who helped Hillary Clinton’s campaign in the Sunshine State, the report stated.
Cuomo’s term is set to expire in January 2019, a little more than a year and a half before the 2020 presidential election. The governor was named policy chair of the Democratic Governors Association last December and visited Jerusalem in January to promote trade during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
His campaign coffer holds more than $22 million, and with additional fundraisers scheduled for April — including one in South Florida — it may be going toward a 2020 race, according to a report.
