Former Montgomery deacon to plead guilty to incest

Former Montgomery County Catholic deacon Dan Paul Stallings, 71, will plead guilty to five counts of incest and other charges in Montgomery County Circuit Court on March 17, his attorney, Tom DeGonia said Monday.

The crimes happened in the 1960s and ’70s when the family member was underage. Stallings also will plead guilty to a fourth-degree sex offense that occurred in 1998 while he was a deacon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Silver Spring. He faces up to 50 years in prison.

Hyattsville man pleads guilty to holding teen as sex slave

Javier Miguel Ramirez, 35, of Hyattsville, pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court of Maryland on Monday to peddling a 14-year-old Mexican girl as a prostitute and sex slave, a U.S. assistant attorney general said.

Between August 2005 and June 2006, Ramirez would take client requests by phone and bring the girl to homes in Maryland and Virginia where she was sold for sex. He also had a sexual relationship with her. He faces up to 40 years in prison. –

Vandals flatten tires on 13 Fairfax school buses

Fairfax County police are investigating the slashing of 28 Fairfax County school bus tires last week at Falls Church High School. Police were drawn to the school the evening of March 6 after an alarm went off, and found 13 buses vandalized. They believe a razor blade was used to flatten the tires.

Police warn about man in dark-green van

Prince George’s County police are urging caution after a white man in his early 40s with a heavy build, tan complexion and long blond hair threatened a young girl with violence if she didn’t get into his late-1990s model dark-green Dodge Caravan.

The incident occurred in the 11200 block of Evans Trail in Beltsville.
