House Speaker Paul Ryan has a new enemy in the form of Trump supporters in his home state.
Before Donald Trump came on stage Monday at a rally in Green Bay, Wis., the crowd chanted “Paul Ryan sucks!”
Ryan and Trump have been at odds in recent weeks, after a video leaked earlier in the month in which Trump can be heard discussing the seduction of women in lewd terms.
The speaker, who had endorsed Trump, now says he will no longer campaign for the nominee and told members of his party in Congress “to do what’s best for you in your district.”
Trump fired back at Ryan, tweeting last week, “Our very weak and ineffective leader, Paul Ryan, had a bad conference call where his members went wild at his disloyalty.”
