Stephen Colbert was “shocked” to learn newly installed White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci had been ousted after less than two weeks on the job.
“I come to you tonight a broken man,” Colbert told “The Late Show” audience Monday.
“Yes, The Mooch is toast,” Colbert said. “The front-stabber has been backstabbed. He said he was going to fire everybody and I’ve got to admit, he delivered.”
Colbert mocked Scaramucci’s short tenure at the White House by saying, “that’s not even a whole pay period.”
A fruit fly would last longer as communications director than Scaramucci did, Colbert quipped.

The outspoken Scaramucci was fired days after he gave a profanity-laced interview to a New Yorker reporter, in which he made vulgar statements about his White House colleagues.
Trump’s new White House chief of staff John Kelly, who was sworn in Monday, was behind the firing.
