The first time Megyn Kelly’s husband kissed her, they were surrounded by her security team protecting the Fox News host from a stalker.
So goes the story Douglas Brunt spilled to the blog Humans of New York at the Met Gala Monday night.
“We started dating shortly after she acquired a stalker — bad start, I know,” Brunt’s tale began. “So she had security with her 24/7. Our first date went great. It was the kind of night that was clearly going to end with a kiss. But I had to kiss her in front of the security guards. It was awkward. It was like our parents were watching.”
But then things took a turn: “The next morning she knocked on my hotel room door. She was alone. She walked into the room, and said: ‘I can do better.'”
Kelly and Brunt, who have three children together, married in 2008, two years before she became the host of her own Fox show.
Kelly is set to interview Donald Trump later this month after going back and forth with the Republican presidential front-runner for the better part of a year.
