Steven Mnuchin expected to lead US delegation to opening of Jerusalem embassy

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is reportedly believed to be leading the U.S. delegation to Israel for the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem next month.

The inauguration ceremony will take place May 14, according to Israel’s Channel 10 news. In addition to Mnuchin, Jared Kushner, senior White House adviser and President Trump’s son-in-law, will be a member of the delegation, as will Jason Greenblatt, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East peace process.

Kushner is leading Middle East peace talks on behalf of Trump.

Ivanka Trump may also attend the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem, though her attendance is not confirmed, according to Axios.

Israeli officials told Israeli media roughly 250 guests from the U.S. will be at the inauguration of the embassy, including 40 lawmakers from the House and the Senate.

Trump announced in December he would move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and the State Department said in February the move would take place in May.
