Greta Van Susteren calls for Democrats to denounce Sharpton White House visits

Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren called on Democratic Party officials Tuesday to denounce White House visits by Rev. Al Sharpton, at least until he gets on a definitive tax repayment plan.

Sharpton reportedly owes nearly $5 million worth of back taxes by way of his National Action Network nonprofit. Sharpton is also a primetime host on MSNBC, as well as a frequent visitor to the White House, reportedly advising President Obama on race relations in America.

“[W]hy don’t [Democrats] demand President Obama get IRS to put Sharpton on payment plan before he is allowed back into the White House?” Van Susteren wrote on her blog.

“[N]o one in Democratic leadership demands [Sharpton] get on a payment plan for the $4.5 million in unpaid taxes,” she wrote. “I am not pushing for a prosecution of Sharpton — just that he gets square with the rest of us taxpayers.”

Sharpton previously claimed that he and his nonprofit have been making payments on the back taxes, while also negotiating a smaller penalty with the government.

Van Susteren’s blog post came after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called for the resignation of Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y, who plead guilty to a federal tax evasion charge.

Van Susteren wrote in a separate blog post that she also believes Grimm should resign.
