Former presidential candidate Ron Paul didn’t win the Republican nomination, but he got his own convention, just across the river from where the GOP is staging the party for John McCain. Paul, a Texas Republican congressman, gathered thousands of supporters in the Target Center in Minneapolis for a “Rally for the Republic.” The event aired live on C-Span, but otherwise got scant media coverage. But it served as a reminder of the enthusiasm for his candidacy.
