A liberal New York City mayoral candidate released an ad slamming the NYPD and suggested police don’t view minorities as “people who deserve to breathe.”
“They ran into peaceful protesters, beat others to the ground, and New York’s leaders defended it,” Democrat Maya Wiley, who is currently polling fifth out of eight candidates in New York City’s mayoral race, said in the 30-second ad about the NYPD’s handling of the Black Lives Matter protests and riots that erupted last summer and left hundreds of officers injured.

BLM PROTESTER TO NEARBY POLICE: ‘WE GONNA BLOW YOUR MOTHERF***ING HEAD OFF’
After showing clips of police skirmishing with protesters, the camera turned to Wiley walking down the street, calling the NYPD’s actions an “injustice to those of us who know Black Lives Matter.”
“As a mom and Civil Rights lawyer, I’ve had enough,” Wiley said. “I’ll transform the police and keep communities safe. As mayor, I’ll be in charge, and I’ll get it done because it’s time the NYPD sees us as people who deserve to breathe.”

Wiley, a former counsel to current mayor Bill de Blasio, says on her website that she plans to “rewrite the rules of policing” and “reimagine the job.”
