Committee seeks Daniel Boone Forest proposals

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) — Submissions are being sought for project proposals to improve Daniel Boone National Forest.

The Daniel Boone National Forest resource advisory committee is seeking the proposals for projects to improve or maintain existing infrastructure, enhance forest ecosystems and restore or enhance watershed quality.

The advisory committee was established in 2010 and includes 15 members who represent various interest groups. The committee works with local communities and resource management officials to provide advice and recommendations.

Funding for the projects may be available through Title II of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act, which was recently reauthorized for one year.

Project submission forms are available at the forest’s Stearns, London and Redbird offices; the forest supervisor’s office in Winchester; and online at http://bit.ly/RysApD .

Proposals must be submitted by Aug. 24.
