WATCH: Video of suspect tied to NYC truck attack

Video of the alleged suspect who drove a truck down a bike lane in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon has emerged on social media, showing him by the West Side Highway near the World Trade Center memorial with what appeared to be two guns.

The footage was aired by NBC News and was taken by a high school student.

Police verified that a truck drove into a bike lane this afternoon and eventually hit a school bus, injuring two adults and two children. As the suspect drove the truck, reports say he shouted “Allahu akbar,” translating to “God is great” in Arabic.

The suspect was shot by New York police after he got out of the truck with two weapons in tow, New York City Police Commissioner James O’Neill said. Law enforcement officials say he fired a paintball gun and pellet gun.

Police said eight were killed in the attack and 15 were injured. Police also said the suspect is now in custody.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the incident “an act of terror.”

“We know this action was intended to break our spirit, but we also know New Yorkers, New Yorkers are resilient and our spirit will never be moved by an act of violence and an act meant to intimidate us,” de Blasio said during a press conference.
