Port names Allee cruise director

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Don Allee has been named director of the Port of New Orleans’ cruise and tourism division.

Port President Gary Lagrange says Allee will begin work in January following the retirement of J. Robert Jumonville.

Jumonville oversaw planning and construction of three Julia St. Cruise Terminals, including consolidation of two terminals into one facility completed in 2011.

Allee comes to New Orleans with nearly 30 years of port industry experience, serving as executive director of the Mississippi State Port Authority and later as a consultant for PLG Consulting, providing services to port and terminal operators.

Allee also has served as executive director of the Port of Beaumont in Texas and worked in marketing for Texas ports in Freeport and Houston.

He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University.
