WATCH: Alec Baldwin’s wife’s fake Spanish accent returns as she begs media for privacy

Hilaria Baldwin spoke to reporters and photographers Friday morning outside her Greenwich Village home in New York City, a day after news broke that her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, will face involuntary manslaughter charges for the Rust film shooting in 2021.

“I want you guys to realize that we have seven kids, and you being here to escort them to school and to be there when they come home is not good. So on a human level, you guys know I’m not going to say anything to you — you know that,” she said to the gaggle of reporters.

“So please, leave my family in peace and let this all play out, OK?” she begged while carrying her newborn daughter in a baby carrier.

She added, “They ask me, ‘Mommy, what are these people doing?’ And it’s a very hard thing as a mom to try and explain. So please, go home.”

Hilaria Baldwin didn’t take questions, walking around the corner as reporters followed her.

Alec Baldwin reportedly made an escape by slipping out of a side door and jumping into an idling van while she distracted reporters with her plea for privacy.

Hilaria Baldwin made another statement on Friday morning by wearing a green hoodie sweatshirt with “Empathy” written across it as she grabbed two cups of coffee.

Social media users immediately mocked the bizarre return of Hilaria Baldwin’s infamous dubious Spanish accent as she emotionally implored the media to leave her family alone.

“I think we should give more credit to Hilaria for her dedication when it comes to faking her accent. I’ve never been committed to anything this much in my life,” wrote one Twitter user.

Mercury News reporter Martha Ross called Hilaria Baldwin’s accent the “more curious” part of her plea to the press. “Hilaria Baldwin’s speech bore hints of the Spanish accent that was at the center of her 2020 Spanish heritage scandal, when she, born and raised in Boston to American parents, often used a Spanish accent in interviews and on social media posts, apparently to give her followers the impression that she was Alec Baldwin’s ‘Latina’ wife.”

“If she’s not from Spain, why accent?” wrote another user.

One user tweeted, “Above all, we should come together to be glad Hilaria kept her Spanish accent through all this.”

“Why does Hilaria Baldwin insist on using this Spanish accent when everyone has heard her real voice? This surely can’t help Alec’s case,” said one user.

Hilaria Baldwin was born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas in Boston. Her mother was a physician and professor at Harvard Medical School, and her father was an attorney with an undergraduate degree in Spanish literature. In December 2020, she was accused of cultural appropriation for using a contrived Spanish accent, and a family cousin reportedly confirmed that she was “0% Spanish” while only having had some childhood vacation visits to Spain. She is bilingual and claimed in July 2021 that she was culturally “fluid.”
