John Oliver’s Marlon Bundo book dethrones James Comey on Amazon

HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” children’s book about Vice President Mike Pence’s pet rabbit bumped former FBI Director James Comey’s highly anticipated memoir from the No. 1 spot on Amazon’s best-seller list Monday.

Comey’s memoir, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” is still a month away from release, but had been No. 1 on Amazon. By Monday afternoon, Comey was bounced by the spoof bunny book, which imagines the Pences’ famed Marlon Bundo as a gay bunny.

On his show Sunday night highlighting Mike Pence’s “hostility to LGBT rights,” Oliver unveiled his own A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo to coincide with the release of an official book by second lady Karen Pence and daughter Charlotte.

The original book, Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President, features the BOTUS — Bunny of the United States — as he follows Pence around while he fulfills his duties as vice president.
