ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A midlevel appeals court has rejected three Republican and Conservative party candidates’ bids to have their names also appear on the new “Stop Common Core” ballot line.
The Appellate Division justices say state attorney general candidate John Cahill, comptroller candidate Robert Antonacci and Joseph Stanzione, running for Greene County district attorney, are not entitled under law to appear on an additional row.
They note the Stop Common Core designation will appear by their names on the Conservative line.
The court says Rob Astorino and Chris Moss, running for governor and lieutenant governor, were also nominated by the Stop Common Core party and will appear on its ballot line.
More than 62,000 New Yorkers signed petitions to create the line intended to reflect concerns about the state’s new education standards.
