Evangelist Franklin Graham asked Christians to pray for President Trump to protect him from his foes.
Graham said he and 250 Christian leaders have called for June 2 to be a “special day of prayer” for Trump.
“President Trump’s enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family, and the presidency. In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God,” he wrote in a Facebook post Sunday.
“This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President,” he said.
Graham’s encouraging of prayer follows House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying last week that she was praying for the president amid a standoff between Trump and Democrats.
“I pray for the president of the United States,” the California Democrat said after Trump cut short a meeting on infrastructure. Before the meeting, Pelosi had accused the president of being involved in a “cover-up.”
“Nancy, thank you so much for your prayers,” Trump responded. “I know you truly mean it!”
