A high school valedictorian in Memphis, Tenn., was awarded more than $3 million in scholarships before he graduated in May.
Tupac Mosley, 17, received more than 50 scholarships and was accepted into more than 40 schools all while being homeless.
“I knew that I had to make them proud. I knew that their investment was worth it and just show them that — yes, everything that you poured into me was worth $3 million and counting,” Mosley said of his teachers during his speech.
“Never let your current situation, whatever circumstances you’re going through, be a mountain that you can’t climb,” he told fellow students.
The Raleigh Egypt High School graduate maintained a 4.3 GPA while not having a steady home after his family was evicted from their home in February after his father died.
His family had recently been staying at For The Kingdom, a camping site and nonprofit organization that mentors local teens.
He told Fox13 he may not be attending college if the For the Kingdom director had not allowed his family to stay there.
Mosley plans to attend Tennessee State University in the fall and major in electrical engineering.
