A medical helicopter carrying four people, including an infant, crashed Tuesday afternoon while en route to a Philadelphia children’s hospital.
Everyone aboard the flight survived with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities reported. The helicopter was traveling from Maryland to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia when it crashed in front of Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, according to CBS3, just under 7 miles from its destination.
“It’s an absolute miracle,” one official said near the scene of the crash, according to Fox29.

Photos of the crash site show the helicopter on its side near the doors of the church with its tail torn off.
The passengers were able to extricate themselves and the pilot suffered the most serious injuries, according to early reports. Emergency responders on the scene said there was no damage to any surrounding buildings or injuries to any residents in the heavily trafficked area.
Mike Zabel, a state representative in Pennsylvania, took to Twitter alerting residents to “avoid the Burmont Road between State and Huey,” He also hailed the situation as “an absolute miracle.”
