Exhibition and museum hours
“Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” is open extended hours to accommodate the number of visitors who would like to see the exhibition. Please note that hours for the de Young’s permanent collection may not mirror the hours of the Tut exhibition.

The hours for “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” are:

June 27-Sept. 30, 2009

• 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Daily (last ticket at 7:30 p.m.)
• The exhibition closes at 3:30 p.m. July 4 (last ticket at 2 p.m.)
• The exhibition closes for maintenance July 13, Aug. 3 and Aug. 31.

Oct. 1-March 28

• 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday,(last ticket at 5 p.m.)
• 9 a.m.-8:45 p.m. Fridays (last ticket at 7:30 p.m.)
• Mondays are reserved for school group visits only from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
• The exhibition closes at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 (last ticket at 2 p.m.) and is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The hours for the de Young’s permanent collection are:

• 9:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday
• 9:30 a.m.-8:45 p.m. Fridays through mid-November
• Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Directions to the de Young Museum
The de Young Museum is located at 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, at John F. Kennedy Drive, in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The park is easily accessible from all parts of the Bay Area, via public transportation, bicycle or vehicle.

Parking
Parking for cars and bicycles is available in the Music Concourse Garage, which is open daily from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Entry to the garage is on Fulton Street at 10th Avenue. Due to the popularity of both this exhibition and the nearby California Academy of Sciences, the garage will fill to capacity early in the day. Limited four-hour street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods and on John F. Kennedy Drive behind the de Young.

Accessibility
The de Young and the Tutankhamun exhibition are both accessible for disabled patrons. In addition to visiting with the general public, people with disabilities have the option of visiting during our scheduled Access Days:

Public transportation
With easy connections from the Ferry Building, BART, Caltrain and regional transit stops, Muni’s 44, 5, 21 and N-Judah lines provide convenient and frequent bus and light-rail service to the park from throughout The City. Free bicycle parking is available in racks outside the museum and inside the Music Concourse Garage. Please visit the de Young’s Web site for more transportation information.

Pharaoh’s Gold Card

All visitors who purchase a ticket for “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” will receive a Pharaoh’s Gold Card, which entitles the holder to unique discounts and special offers from participating retail partners, restaurants, businesses and attractions throughout Northern California.

Enjoying your visit

• Please enter the de Young through the main entrance, as the museum’s garage-level entrance will be for exit only. There will be limited access through the garage-level entrance for visitors with disabilities.
• Parcel check is available free of charge. All bags are subject to inspection upon entering the museum.
• No food or drink is permitted inside the exhibition.
• Photography, videotaping, sketching and painting are not permitted in the exhibition.
• Strollers, baby-carrying backpacks and large backpacks are not allowed inside the exhibition. Please plan to check them. Soft, front-pack infant carriers are permitted.
• Restrooms are on every level of the de Young. Baby-changing stations are located in the accessible stalls. A family restroom is available on the lower level.

The Museum Café

The Museum Café features a variety of snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Please note that the Museum Café does not accept reservations.The café offers extended hours June 27-Sept. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. As of Oct. 1, it will resume normal hours, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.

Museum stores
Two museum stores accompany the exhibition, offering a range of merchandise and a selection of Egyptian-themed gifts and crafts.

Audio tours
English and Spanish audio tours of the exhibition, narrated in English by Omar Sharif, are available for rental during your visit. Audio tours are $7 (adults) and $6 (museum members and children 12 and under).

Docent tours
There are no public docent tours of the exhibition. Take advantage of one of the many docent lectures that have been scheduled.

ATM
A First Republic ATM is located just inside the garage entrance to the de Young on the lower level of the museum.
