Trump targets three GOP lawmakers in series of critical tweets

President Trump accused three conservative lawmakers in a series of tweets Thursday of stalling the legislative process on healthcare and tax reform.

“If Reps. Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and Raul Labrador would get on board we would have both great healthcare and massive tax cuts and reform,” Trump tweeted just after 5 p.m. ET.

“Where are Meadows, Jordan and Labrador?” he asked in a separate tweet, urging them to repeal and replace Obamacare.

The tweets target three members of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative stalwarts who refused to back the healthcare bill introduced by GOP leadership earlier this month. Their opposition, in addition to moderate Republicans who rejected the legislation, forced the White House to abandon the bill rather than sending it to the House floor for a vote.

Trump criticized the Freedom Caucus in a separate tweet earlier Thursday, claiming the group will “hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, [and] fast.”

The president threatened to primary House Freedom Caucus members in the same early morning tweet.
