Alexandria Councilwoman Del Pepper wants to go to great lengths to remind the city’s smokers that the tobacco they’re inhaling is bad for them.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Pepper suggested that the city post signs in parks and bus stations to remind the city’s citizens of the danger of cigarettes, according to the Alexandria Times.
The City Council will have to agree on the motion when they discuss it further next month, and at least one councilman thinks the measure might go too far.
“It’s not an illegal activity,” said Councilman Frank Fannon. “They can choose to smoke if they want to smoke, and I think it might be just a little overkill.”
