Trump: Israeli-Palestinian peace plan to be unveiled Tuesday

President Trump said that he will release a peace plan for Israelis and Palestinians at noon on Tuesday and said the deal would be a “suggestion” for both sides.

Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday, Trump hailed the plan as “a big step” toward limiting conflict in the region.

“We are going to be announcing a plan tomorrow at 12 o’clock,” Trump told reporters. “No matter where I went, they say Israel and the Palestinians, they have to make peace before you can really have peace in the Middle East.

“People have been working on this for many, many years, and I think we’re relatively close to that,” he added.

The president said that Netanyahu supported the plan, which was spearheaded by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, although Palestinians have preemptively rejected the plan. Trump also claimed that “many of the Arab nations have agreed” to the plan.

“We have the support of the prime minister, we have the support of the other parties, and we think we will ultimately have the support of the Palestinians — but we’re going to see,” Trump said.
