Some insiders have claimed the drama at ABC News’s The View has demonstrated why some view the network as the “nastiest” in the business.
“ABC News is the nastiest, most vicious swamp in the business — so of course it leaks like a sieve,” a media executive with inside information on ABC told Fox News on Wednesday. “That’s a symptom of rock-bottom morale.”
The View has been rocked with constant leaks about drama and the “toxic culture” behind the scenes of the show. At the center of the latest drama is host Abby Huntsman, who announced Monday that she is leaving the show.
After her announcement, someone within ABC leaked that executives were looking to fire the host before she left. Huntsman, 33, left the show to join her father’s gubernatorial campaign.
More sources within the company rebutted the claim, saying that Huntsman was really leaving because of the “toxic culture” within the company. The host was then reportedly pressured Tuesday to address one of the leaks on-air that alleged she was treated “like shit.” Huntsman declined the request.
Additionally, other leaks claim that host Meghan McCain’s relationship with the rest of the hosts has soured recently. As the show’s only conservative, McCain routinely finds herself in heated clashes with the other hosts.
The show’s drama mirrors another high-profile controversy the company dealt with last fall with leaks to Project Veritas. ABC News anchor Amy Robach said in a leaked video in November that she knew all about the Jeffrey Epstein story three years before the rest of the public knew.
The leaker then slammed the company in a letter after they fired the producer who cut the clip. “Innocent people that have absolutely nothing to do with this are being hunted down as if we are all a sport,” the leaker stated.
Despite the network’s drama, an ABC News source praised the hard work by the talent on and off the camera for The View. “Leaks undermine that hard work,” the source added.
