Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., refused to lump former President Bill Clinton into a discussion on the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct.
During a Wednesday interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Schumer, who has become an active voice in the #MeToo movement, would not comment on Clinton’s recent controversial remarks on his extramarital affair while in office with then-intern Monica Lewinsky.
“Not getting into that,” Schumer said, which prompted Cuomo to further question the Senate Minority Leader on #MeToo.
“No, ‘MeToo’ is important,” he answered. “What Bill Clinton said, the public can judge for themselves.”
Clinton was skewered earlier this week for what some claim was a lack of remorse he showed Lewinsky in light of the recent national awakening to the vast effects and implications of sexual harassment and assault.
