As noted this morning, Ben Nelson apparently sold out in exchange for the federal government’s picking up the tab of new Medicaid patients in Nebraska added through Obamacare. For a piddling “$45 million over the first decade,” Ben Nelson really is–as he proudly said Thursday–a “cheap date.” If he had stood his ground, wouldn’t he have been able to block abortion funding–just as Joe Lieberman was able to kill the Medicare buy-in? Nelson’s compromise really is a sham; his supporters in Nebraska feel betrayed.
