Rob Goldstone, the British publicist who helped organize the infamous Trump Tower meeting, testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee that the last time he saw President Trump, he was blasting the rap song “Donald Trump” by Mac Miller.
Earlier this week, the committee released a trove of transcripts relating to the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and Russia lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. Prior to the meeting itself, Goldstone claims to have walked into Trump’s office and found the then-candidate listening to the song.
“We went and had about 10 minutes with Mr. Trump. Emin said hello, posed for a photograph. Mr. Trump at the time was listening to very loud rap music when we walked in, because he knew I was in music, said, look, I’ve been presented with a platinum disk for a song called, ‘Donald Trump,’ to which I —that’s how I remember this incident. I cautioned him that he should perhaps look at the words to the song before he enjoyed it so much,” Goldstone said in his testimony.
At one time, Trump threatened to sue musical artist Mac Miller over the 2011 hit song after the rapper gave a critical interview of Trump.
Goldstone, who is a longtime acquaintance of the Trump’s, helped arrange the meeting on behalf of his client, Emin Agalarov.
