‘It’s nothing’: Rush Limbaugh says conservatives are acting ‘scared’ over ‘send her back’ chants

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh criticized both liberals and conservatives over the backlash to chants of “send her back” at President Trump’s Wednesday rally, defending the crowd of Trump supporters in an interview on Fox News Friday morning.

The crowd at Trump’s rally in North Carolina broke into chants of “send her back” after the president criticized Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota for her history of comments that many have labeled anti-Semitic, and her sharp criticisms of the United States.

Limbaugh criticized commentators and news personalities for overreacting and taking the chant literally. He argued the crowd was simply “having fun … with a president they love.”

“It’s nothing!” Limbaugh said, referring to the chant. “All this [backlash] is designed to get conservatives and Republicans acting as though they’re guilty of racism, bigotry, sexism, and homophobia. It is all made up.”

The talk radio host accused Democrats of keeping a double-standard for not denouncing violence committed by members of antifa and the Black Lives Matter movement. Limbaugh also pointed out that Democrats in Congress passed a resolution condemning various forms of hate in response to Omar’s controversial statements. However, the final resolution that passed did not mention Omar by name.

In February, Omar said in a tweet, “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” while accused Israel of buying influence in Congress. She later backed off the tweets, saying she did not intend them to be anti-Semitic.

“Democrats never have to denounce any of their supporters. They are never made to explain it. It’s a two-way street here,” Limbaugh said. “I wish everybody on our side wouldn’t get so darn scared and afraid.”

“‘Oh my God. Oh my God. Did you hear what they said? The media will kill us,'” Limbaugh said, mimicking conservatives’ reactions to the chant. “So what? We’re winning. There is no reason to act defensive. There is no reason to act guilty of these false things that they accuse us of.”
