Trump promotes alt-right activist after condemning white supremacists

President Trump retweeted an alt-right activist hours after making a speech condemning white supremacist groups following criticism of his milquetoast criticism of violent acts in Charlottesville, Va.

Trump retweeted — essentially the act of promoting another person’s post on Twitter to all the users who follow Trump — Jack Posobiec, an alt-right activist who is a staunch Trump supporter.

“Meanwhile: 39 shootings in Chicago this weekend, 9 deaths. No national media outrage. Why is that?” Posobiec tweeted.

Trump was reportedly angry that he had to make another speech on Monday specifically condemning white supremacists after condemning violence “on many sides” following violent clashes in Charlottesville Saturday. Those clashes culminated when a white supremacist man drove his car into a crowd of people, killing one woman, according to police.

Posobiec has been pictured making alt-right hand gestures in the White House press briefing room, though he says he is not alt-right but part of the “#SlavRight.” He told The Atlantic that means he’s Slavic and he’s on the right.
