VIDEO: Slight edge for Dems could actually mean a loss for the left

Democrats are leading republicans by two percentage points for party affiliation just before the midterm elections, but those two points could actually foreshadow a loss for the left.

The new Gallup poll out Thursday shows that 45 percent of the national adult population are leaning Democratic while 43 percent lean Republican. The two point edge Democrats have right now may not be enough for them to pull out a victory in next week’s elections.

Republicans and those who lean right typically vote in higher numbers than Democrats — which could overcome the slight disadvantage they currently have in national party affiliation.

In four out of the last five midterm elections Republicans overcame any Democratic advantage in national partisanship with their voter turnout.

The numbers in Thursday’s poll suggest a big win for the GOP come next Tuesday.
