Maryland rescue crews pulled two duck hunters that became stranded on an island in the Chesapeake Bay during severe weather Monday.
Maryland Natural Resources Police say they had to break through ice and overcome rough seas to reach the two men on Hart-Miller Island.
The men left on a 14-foot aluminum boat to go hunting around 8 a.m., but took on water from the choppy waters, and called 911, police said.
Police issued a citation Todd Troxell, 40, of Codorus, Pa., for negligent operations. He told officers that he did not check weather reports before setting out on his trip.
