James Comey: Vote for Democrats in 2018 midterm elections if you ‘believe in this country’s values’

Former FBI Director James Comey said Tuesday that people must vote for Democrats in the November midterm elections if they “believe in this country’s values.”

“This Republican Congress has proven incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design that ‘Ambition must … counteract ambition.’ All who believe in this country’s values must vote for Democrats this fall. Policy differences don’t matter right now. History has its eyes on us,” Comey posted to Twitter Tuesday night.

Comey indicated in his tweet that he feels Republicans are no longer able to fulfill the promises of America’s Founding Fathers.

President Trump fired Comey from his position in the FBI, and Comey appeared to testify before Congress. Comey made the decision to make public that the investigation into former candidate Hillary Clinton’s emails shortly before the 2016 presidential elections; however, he did not reveal that the FBI was also investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Many Democrats claim he made his decision knowingly to influence the election.

However, since stepping down, Comey has been very critical of the Trump administration and has drawn disapproval from Republicans.
