It’s only “natural” that President Trump’s reelection campaign is seeking copyright approval to use the same slogan as the “The Purge” movie franchise, says one producer.
The third installment of the horror series, “The Purge: Election Year,” which hit theaters during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, used the slogan “Keep America Great.” Now, Trump’s teams are looking to use that line for his 2020 bid.
“It felt kind of natural after we made the movie and then he used that,” producer Brad Fuller told the Huffington Post, unfazed by the president’s use of the phrase.
Fuller and co-producer Andrew Form doubted the president knew the connection to their horror series when Trump first introduced his new campaign slogan during a rally in Wisconsin last month.
The movie franchise has taken other jabs at Trump in their films, most recently using his signature red hat in posters for “The First Purge” which was released this week.
