Air Force pilots practicing flight maneuvers accidentally drew a contrail-penis over Luke Air Force Base in Arizona on Tuesday, Air Force officials said.
Officials said on Thursday the pilots involved were simulating a dogfight and accidentally created the phallus-shape in the sky, according to CNN.
“We’ve seen the photos that have been circulating online from Tuesday afternoon. 56th Fighter Wing senior leadership reviewed the training tapes from the flight and confirmed that F-35s conducting standard fighter training maneuvers … resulted in the creation of the contrails,” a base spokesperson said.
“There was no nefarious or inappropriate behavior during the training flight,” the spokesperson said.
Fox 10 in Phoenix first reported the incident Tuesday after a viewer sent in photos of the sky penis.

In 2018, a Marine Corps plane drew male genitals over California. Marine Corps leadership initiated and investigation and disciplined the flight crew for making the phallus-shape.
In 2017, two Navy pilots intentionally drew a sky penis over California, prompting their senior officers to take disciplinary actions for the artwork.
