New poll says Clinton has 1-point lead over Sanders in Calif.

A new poll was released Friday that confirms Hillary Clinton is in a very tight race against Bernie Sanders in California, even as it shows Clinton should easily defeat him in New Jersey next week.

The American Research Group poll has Clinton leading Sanders by just one point, 48-47, in California. Clinton holds some advantages though, as she leads Sanders 55-50 among registered Democrats, and leads him 62-47 among those polled who participated in the state’s early voting process.

But among those polled who will vote Tuesday, the two candidates are tied 47-47, and Sanders leads Clinton among voters with no party preference, 67-29.

The poll came out on the same day that USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll said Sanders was leading Clinton 44-43 in California.

Things look a lot easier for Clinton in New Jersey, where she leads Sanders 60-37. Clinton leads in almost every demographic group in the Garden State, and even holds a 51-46 lead among male voters. But Sanders is still the most popular candidate in the state among young voters age 18-49, and he leads Clinton 50-47.

Both surveys were conducted May 31-June 2 with a margin of error of +/- 5 percent.
