Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., was briefly arrested on Monday after protesting President Trump’s immigration policy at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Chicago.
“We are staying until we get answers from ICE,” Gutierrez tweeted Monday afternoon.
He said federal officials warned him that they could be arrested if they stay at the headquarters, and they said he was briefly arrested, but then released.

Democrats have protested Trump’s plan to expand the kinds of illegal immigrants that can be subject to deportation. He issued new guidance at the start of his term saying all illegal immigrants could be subject to being deported, unlike President Obama, who sought to exempt those who don’t pose a risk to U.S. civilians.
