Former President Barack Obama was spotted paddleboarding shirtless in Hawaii on the day President Trump launched an attack that killed two Iranian military figures in Iraq.
Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and Popular Mobilization Forces leader Abu Mahdi al Muhandis died during drone strikes outside of Baghdad International Airport on Thursday.
Obama, 55, has been vacationing in Hawaii since Christmas. He has not commented on the airstrikes. The Obama administration, which struck a nuclear deal with Iran that was later abandoned under Trump, had promoted diplomacy with the Middle Eastern country.
“Under my leadership, America’s policy is unambiguous to terrorists who harm or intend to harm any American,” Trump stated on Friday. “We will find you. We will eliminate you.”
Video from the day showed Obama falling off his board on several occasions, though he remained in good spirits, according to a photographer who took pictures of the outing.
The former president was spotted wearing a “shark deterrent band” around his ankle made by Sharkbanz, a company that sells “powerful permanent magnets to create an effective shark deterrent that’s always on and requires no batteries or charging.”
