A young boy has died after getting stuck in a 105-foot well for over three days in Afghanistan.
The boy, known as Haidar, was lowered food as the rescue effort continued, but it wasn’t enough to save him. Contradicting reports claimed he was anywhere from 6 to 9 years old and from southern Afghanistan.
Acting Minister of Defense Muhammad Yaqoub Mujahed and Anas Haqqani, a key member of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, both paid a visit to the rescue site. A video of Mujahed visibly crying after the news of the boy’s fate was posted on Twitter.
