OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Online brokerage TD Ameritrade gave its CEO a 9 percent raise last year because he led the company to produce strong results in a difficult environment.
Ameritrade filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday detailing the compensation for Fred Tomczyk (TOM-zick) and other top executives.
Tomczyk’s compensation grew to $6.5 million in 2012, up from $6 million in 2011.
Ameritrade’s board says Tomczyk was rewarded because the company delivered earnings per share of $1.06, attracted more new clients and handled 46 percent of the trades in the market.
Most of Tomczyk’s compensation is incentive pay that’s a combination of cash and stock. His salary was $700,000 in fiscal 2012.
Ameritrade will hold its annual meeting in Omaha on Feb. 13, but shareholders will vote only on routine items.
