Fox Business host Lou Dobbs said that the Department of Justice’s decision not to prosecute former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe made him question the leadership of Attorney General William Barr.
The DOJ announced its decision not to charge McCabe on Friday after a monthslong investigation into allegations that he lied to investigators about authorizing media disclosures.
Dobbs, a well-known Trump supporter, blasted that decision in a conversation with John Solomon on his show Friday night.
“I have serious, serious questions tonight about the integrity of the Justice Department under Attorney General Barr. I have serious questions, and I have to believe most Americans do right now,” he stated.
“It’s clear. It’s a matter of fact that McCabe lied and deceived and ordered up that special counsel condition that allowed it to unfold,” Dobbs added. “So is my cynicism, my skepticism about all of this misplaced? Or, is it time for to us all take note that the deep state is intractable and that much more has to be done to bring it to heel?”
This is the second time this week that Dobbs has come after Barr.
On Thursday, the Fox Business host condemned the attorney general for bashing the president’s social media use, saying that his tweets about the DOJ make his job “impossible for me.” Barr’s commentary about the president’s social media habits specifically focused on his tweet about the case of longtime GOP operative Roger Stone.
“He is also expressing himself fully, freely, and directly to the American people without going through the sage intermediaries of the national left-wing media,” Dobbs explained. “I am so disappointed in Bill Barr. I have to say this. It’s a damn shame when he doesn’t get what this president has gone through and what the American people have gone through and what his charge is as attorney general.”
