U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez argued Sunday that Donald Trump is “volatile individual” and a “train wreck” on issues of importance to American voters.
“It’s all about judgment. And Donald Trump is such a volatile individual. And what I have seen working with Secretary Clinton is that she is a steady hand,” Perez told NBC News’ Chuck Todd Sunday.
“We are in the midst of a very challenging set of circumstances around the world and you need someone with a steady hand,” he said. He said Clinton, “with her experience [and] with her steady hand … has exercised sound judgment throughout.”
According to Perez, who’s been the subject of vice presidential speculation, the greatest challenge the next commander-in-chief will face is the growing threat of terrorism.
“We’re continuing to confront the threat of foreign terrorism, ISIL and others. We continue to see nations that are having dramatic challenges,” he said. “And so I think it’s a critically important moment for American leadership.”
“One of the many reasons, Chuck, that I am so excited to support Secretary Clinton is because she understands that when you attack Muslims, when you attack immigrants, you’re attacking the core of American values,” he added.
Perez also mocked Trump’s limited foreign policy experience and his “America First” plan to handle international affairs.
“Well, I haven’t run a Ms. Universe pageant, and I don’t own any golf courses in Scotland so I don’t have what Donald Trump has, and I’m very sorry about that,” he said.
