BEVERLEY SWAIM-STALEY

Maryland’s transportation secretary told the Baltimore Sun that toll increases for state bridges, tunnels and roads will most likely be delayed. The state has been holding public hearings on the proposed toll increases which have been met with opposition. But Staley says because of changes being considered in response, members of the Maryland Transportation Authority board might not vote on a final schedule on Aug. 25 as planned. The proposals include increasing tolls for passenger cars on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge from $2.50 to $5, and to $8 beginning in July 2013.
