Wisconsin poll: Clinton holds lead over Trump

Hillary Clinton continues to lead Donald Trump in Wisconsin with less than four months until Election Day, according to a new survey released Wednesday.

According to the latest Marquette Law poll, Clinton leads with 43 percent to Trump’s 37 percent among registered voters, with her lead shrinking by a single point over the past month. Eleven percent of respondents say they support neither candidate. In June, Clinton held 42 percent support, while Trump sat with 35 percent.

In a four-way race, Clinton’s lead opens up to 7 points on Trump, topping him with 40 percent to the real estate mogul’s 33 percent. Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson held 10 percent support, with the Green Party’s Jill Stein taking 4 percent.

Wisconsin has been a trouble spot for Trump throughout his campaign, having lost the state to Sen. Ted Cruz in early April after the state’s GOP lined up against him, including Gov. Scott Walker. However, Walker announced his support for Trump and will be speaking at the party’s convention next week.

Additionally, former Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold continues to lead Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, holding a 7-point advantage over the incumbent (48-41 percent). Feingold has led throughout the contest, and is up 10 in the latest RealClearPolitics average.

The race is a rematch of the 2010 contest when Johnson unseated Feingold, then a three-term incumbent, as part of the Tea Party wave which saw Johnson, Florida’s Marco Rubio, Pennsylvania’s Pat Toomey and New Hampshire’s Kelly Ayotte swept into office. All four are currently involved in tough re-election fights this fall.
