A video of a military wife mourning her late husband has amassed more than 7.5 million views with some calling the widow a “patriot.”
Lisa West Williams posted a video to Facebook on Tuesday that showed a flag-draped coffin being removed from a plane at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Passengers were asked to stay in their seats while T.J. Thomas, the wife of Warrant Officer 1 Shawn Thomas, went out to the casket, according to reports.
She can be seen in the video taken out the window of the plane touching the casket and crying. In the background of the video, several passengers can also be heard crying.
Thomas, who was a Green Beret, died Feb. 2 in a non-combat vehicle accident while serving in Niger, Army Times reported. Since enlisting in the Army in July 2000, Thomas had deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan seven times and had earned two Bronze Stars.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind four children.
