Klobuchar: Kavanaugh would have thrown me out if I talked like he did

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said Friday that she would have been thrown out of court if she had talked to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh the way he talked to her at Thursday’s hearing.

“What I was thinking is if he was a judge in a courtroom and I had acted like that … he would’ve thrown me out,” she said on NBC Friday morning.

During the hearing, Klobuchar asked Kavanaugh to address claims that he used to drink to the point of blacking out. Kavanaugh denied it, and tried to turn the tables on Klobuchar by asking her if she ever blacked out after drinking.

“You’re asking about blackout. I don’t know. Have you?” Kavanaugh said.

Kavanaugh’s sharp response seemed to be part of his plan to aggressively attack Democrats who called his character into question. But after a break, he apologized to Klobuchar.

“I’m sorry that I did that,” he said. “This is a tough process. I’m sorry about that.”

But on Friday, Klobuchar said her bigger problem is that he never answered the question.

“The problem for me is, he really didn’t answer the question about, there have been incidences where he didn’t partially remember what happened,” she said.
