Trump: Chuck Schumer was right, Democrats should blame themselves, not Russia

President Trump stole a line from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a tweet Monday, after Schumer said Democrats’ failure to win the 2016 election was their own fault.

“After 1 year of investigation with Zero evidence being found, Chuck Schumer just stated that ‘Democrats should blame ourselves, not Russia,'” Trump wrote Monday morning.

Schumer recently said, “When you lose to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you don’t blame other things — [James] Comey, Russia — you blame yourself … So what did we do wrong? People didn’t know what we stood for, just that we were against Trump. And still believe that.”

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said in May that former FBI Director James Comey and WikiLeaks were to blame for her loss to Trump.

On Sunday, Trump criticized Republican lawmakers for not doing enough to support him during the federal and congressional investigations into possible collusion with Russia.

“It’s very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “As the phony Russian Witch Hunt continues, two groups are laughing at this excuse for a lost election taking hold, Democrats and Russians!”
