Trump reprises ‘Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd’ in NBC diss

President Trump mocked “Meet the Press” anchor Chuck Todd in an early Saturday tweet.

“When will Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd and @NBCNews start talking about the Obama SURVEILLANCE SCANDAL and stop with the Fake Trump/Russia story?” he said.

This isn’t the first time Trump has used that nickname to chide Todd. He used it back in July when he said Todd has “so little touch for politics.”

The president doesn’t seem to be a fan of NBC News’ coverage of potential ties between himself and Russia.

His tweet Saturday might be in reaction to Todd’s reporting Friday evening on “Nightly News.” He said the president “doesn’t want to support” the intelligence community’s “conclusion that Russia tried to interfere in the election and that there is going to be an investigation into this whether and whether he likes it or not.” He also claimed that the source of all of the current problems facing the West Wing was Trump’s tweet weeks ago that the Obama administration ordered Trump Tower be wiretapped.

In a follow-up tweet, Trump said: “It is the same Fake News Media that said there is “no path to victory for Trump” that is now pushing the phony Russia story. A total scam!”

Todd later responded to Trump’s taunt, saying he doesn’t feel sleepy despite staying up late to watch Mississippi State’s stunning defeat of UConn in the women’s basketball Final Four.

“For those wondering, I slept well even tho I stayed up late watching the #msstate upset of UConn. #cowbell. Don’t feel sleepy at all though,” he said.
