President Trump would like a private tour of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s famous “war rooms” during his state visit to the United Kingdom, according to a report.
Trump hopes to see the series of underground bunkers in London from which Churchill led Britain during World War II after watching a Churchill biopic, a source told the Sunday Times.
“He wants to visit the Churchill war rooms and is very inspired by the ‘Darkest Hour,'” the source said of the 2017 film featuring Gary Oldman.
A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.
Various trips by Trump to the U.K. have been pushed back since he came to office, but the latest reports indicate a state visit could take place from October 5 to 8 after current British Prime Minister Theresa May met with the president at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump had been scheduled to fly to London in January to open the new U.S. embassy but pulled out, citing as the reason former President Barack Obama’s failure to sell the land on which the old embassy stood for a fair price.
