Cory Booker gets additional police protection after death threat

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., is getting additional police security in his home state after authorities said he received a death threat.

“The Newark Police Division has been notified by the United States Capitol Police (USCP) regarding a threat on the life of New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and his family members,” Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said in a statement Saturday, according to ABC News.

“As a result, members of the Police Division’s Executive Protection Unit have been assigned to provide security at the Senator’s residence in Newark.”

The statement did not indicate the nature of the threat.

Booker is widely speculated to be a Democratic candidate for president in 2020.
