Group aligned with Paul Ryan targets conservatives in TV ads

The political nonprofit group aligned with House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is targeting conservative holdouts with television ads urging them to “vote with President Trump” and support the party’s legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare.

The $500,000 campaign from American Action Network is placing ads on Fox News and locally in the districts of 30 House Republicans urging them to support the American Health Care Act. Conservative insurgents in the House and Senate oppose the bill, putting them at odds with Trump and Republican leaders in Congress.

This latest ad doesn’t mention GOP leaders, and casts the choice before conservatives as one in which they’re either with Trump or against him.

Here’s the script of the ad:

ANNCR: The Republicans’ American Health Care Act versus Obamacare.

Obamacare is full of job-destroying mandates.

The new plan eliminates them.

Obamacare put bureaucrats in control.

The Republicans’ plan puts patients and doctors in charge.

Obamacare stuck families with soaring premiums.

The new plan provides more choices and lower costs.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Repeal and replace Obamacare.

ANNCR: Tell [MEMBER OF CONGRESS] to vote with President Trump.

The members targeted by the ad campaign include:

Reps. Mo Brooks and Gary Palmer of Alabama; Reps. Paul Gosar, David Schweikert and Trent Franks of Arizona; Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado; Reps. Ted Yoho, Ron DeSantis and Bill Posey of Florida; Rep. Jody Hice of Georgia; Rep. Raul Labrador of Idaho; Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland; Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan; Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina; Rep. Steve Pearce of New Mexico; Reps.
